Some of my favorite movies

A Bridge Too Far. A very historically accurate account of the failed Allied attempt to cross the Rhine via 'airborne carpet' in 1944. It was Field Marshal Montgomery who cooked up the plan, but that's another story...

2001. 2001 is a science fiction** classic and always will be. It was a breakthrough film for Stanley Kubrick and has pretty excellent special effects for the 60's. 2010 is an excellent sequel and explains some things about 2001.

Breakheart Pass. A western mystery written by Alastair MacLean, who wrote some excellent mysteries. Several other MacLean books have been movified, but with the exception of Bear Island they are pretty stinky...

The Terminator. In my opinion, the best thing Arnie Schwartzenegger has ever made.

Mystery, Alaska. About a small town hockey team from AK playing the NY Rangers. My brother Pete got me this one for Christmas and it's one of my all time favorite presents.

While not a movie, the Cosmos series with Carl Sagan is far and away my all time favorite TV show. In many ways it is still more relevant than alot of the stuff put out on TV today, even on ETV and Discovery, even though it is now something like twenty years old...

**By science fiction, I mean science fiction, not fantasy, horror, comic books, japanimation
or any of the other garbage that gets called science fiction these days . . .
